Does your switchboard need an upgrade?
This is one of the biggest points of confusion for homeowners and one of the most highly recommended services by electrical companies. There are a few reasons for this including safety, switchboard requirements, circuit protection requirements and recommendations, metering upgrades, increasing maximum demand capabilities and adding additional appliances to the home such as air conditioners and kitchen appliances.
Switchboard upgrades can be costly, depending on what work is required. For example, relocating a switchboard is more labour intensive and requires more materials compared to leaving the switchboard in the same location. However, relocation is a common request to make way for general renovations and layout changes.
In older homes, the presence of asbestos, degraded cabling and outdated circuit protection can trigger the need for a switchboard upgrade. When considering a switchboard upgrade, ensure that the works you approve align with your long-term goals and plans for your home.
My breaker/s keep tripping, what should I do?
Circuit breakers are key to ensuring safety in your home. If you find a circuit frequently tripping, or a breaker that can’t be reset it’s definitely time to call in an electrician. There can be multiple causes for this including circuit overloading, old or faulty circuit breakers, or other electrical issues that can only be detected by a qualified electrician.
Can I supply my own fittings?
Yes. You are welcome to supply your own fittings, particularly if you have a very specific idea of the type of feature light, fan, oven or other electrical fitting. Please feel free to include us in your choices to ensure you have chosen the right fitting for the result you would like to achieve and compatibility with your home. You should keep in mind though that supplying your own materials can make the job more expensive. We may be dealing with unfamiliar fittings resulting in longer installation time, and other sometimes unforeseeable issues. Generally, we don’t deal with warranties on materials we don’t supply and don’t expect to remove the rubbish from materials we don’t supply.
